28 week checkup for Baby Girl
Today I had my 28 week appointment with my OB for Baby Girl. This was the fun one...not really. I had to drink the nasty stuff for the glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes. Then had to wait for the stuff to get into my blood, and then they take the blood to actually do the test. I also had to get my RhoGam shot because I am one of the lucky 10 % of the population to have A - as a bloodtype. Because Pat is positive, if baby girl is not negative like me, I guess my body can decide the pregnancy isn't a good thing. So, another shot. Of course there was the ever fun weigh in, and the actually fun part of getting to hear her heartbeat. Still sounding good! She either didn't like or did like the little wand on my belly because she kicked it pretty hard. I also got measured to check approximate fetal size. The size of one's belly should pretty much match up with your week of pregnancy. For example, I am 28 weeks along, so baby girl should be measuring about 28. However, I measured pretty small this time. About 24. Last month I measured small too, but not that big of a discrepancy. So, if this continues this next month, they may do a fetal growth check (an ultrasound) to check out her growth. I was a little worried, but my doctor seemed to think it would be ok. I also gained plenty of weight this past month, so one of us is growing, unfortunately I guess it's just my thighs:)

What can I say, the boy loves shoes. Any shoes.
Graham loves to put on our shoes, as most kids do. He discovered my metallic flats the other day. The last picture is of him "asking" me to see the pictures. He is so hard to photograph these days. He only wants to see the pictures on the screen, so as soon as I pull out the camera, he yells, pictures! Then runs over to look at the new pictures on the screen. The problem, he hasn't let me take any yet. He hasn't quite gotten the concept that he has to let me take the picture first in order to be able to see it!

Baby Girl Preview.....
I thought I'd give you a preview as to how the nursery is coming along. It is not finished, but I threw the bedding on tonight to see what it looks like. You can click on the pictures to make them bigger. The lighting is horrible, I should have waited for daylight (and I still need a lamp shade), so sorry about that, but you get the idea at least. The walls are a light pink, the trim is cream, and her furniture is white. All for now!

Sunny days, sweeping the ...
...clouds away! What a great day for Graham! It was a big day here, not only was it "The Game" (OSU vs. Mich), but Graham and Pat went to see Sesame Street Live:Elmo's Green Thumb. Got to love Pat, he volunteered to take Graham by himself, on a big football game day. Though they were back in time to watch the games (with the help of our DVR) it was a nice treat for Graham, and I totally appreciated that Pat wanted to spend the time alone with Graham. I actually got a little sad as I looked at my watch and saw the show was starting, I really wished I could see his little face when Elmo made his debut. I am sure you can tell from the pictures, that he was in awe. I spent the morning running around doing about 6 errands that I had been putting off, and got them all done in record (pre baby days ) time! I felt so accomplished! Graham's souvenir was a Elmo ball, and as you can see he played with it for the rest of the day (after his 3 1/2 hour nap!) Don't be alarmed by his picture with the breathing machine, this is part of our daily routine now. We decided to take the advice of all the doctors he has seen, and put him on a daily preventative asthma medication. So Graham will have to do a treatment everyday now. Hopefully we can scale this back once we are through cold/flu season, so we will reevaluate in a few months. So, we have been doing it as part of the bedtime routine. Ball and froggy were right there to cuddle! Happy Weekend!

Love!
Today was one of those days that makes a mom run right to the baby book. I was standing at the sink doing our dishes from lunch, and Graham comes by on his wheely bee. He stopped, looked at me with a huge smile and said " I love you!" with such enthusiasm! Graham has said this before, but when I say, "Mommy loves you, " and then I ask him to repeat it back to me. This was the first time he ever just flat out said it out of the blue. My heart of course just melted. It was a great day:)
This is how we roll....
....when a cold is looming that is. Graham has been wheezy the past few days, which means the breathing machine comes out. I think we caught it early enough this time that it will not turn into a breathing night mare like his last cold. The big thing is, he will now sit by himself and watch a video while doing his treatment. What a good little guy.

Grumpy Face:)
This was too funny. For some reason out of the blue Graham started saying "grumpy face" and did this little move. I am pretty sure he is trying to do the sign for grumpy that he learned from his Signing Time video. It just looks a little different when he does it. Maybe he started doing this tonight because I had a flat tire and had to deal with all that for an hour this evening. Whatever the reason, it made my day because it was too funny. I played this video back for him and he thought it was hilarious, I have never seen him laugh so hard.

H1N1 vaccine triumph!
After a previous failed attempt, Graham got his vaccine! So, let me explain the previous two pictures. We went to another clinic, this one a good 45 minutes away from us. There was another huge one going on at the same time downtown, but I figured this one would be a bit more manageable numbers wise. So we got there, and immediately had to wait in a line....for a ticket. The ticket guaranteed us a shot. They had 1000 vaccines to give, we were number 796. I got there 20 minutes before the clinic was supposed to begin. Anyway, at first I was annoyed that we had to wait forever just to get a ticket, but it actually worked out well, since we knew it was going to be a long wait no matter what. Once we had our ticket in hand (after an hour wait), it gave us a time slot that we were supposed to come back during to get the shot. They had someone announcing outside what number they were one, and which numbers where then allowed inside. So, once we had our ticket, we had at least an hour and a half additional wait until our number was called. But, we were able to leave, do whatever. Since we were so far from home (and civilization in my opinion!) we met up with our friends Carol and Andrew, and watched Signing Times on the DVD player in the car. The boys were so good! They watched contently for 90 minutes, and we fed them the "dinner" I had brought. Around 6:30 (we got there at 3:15) we were up! Just to get in the building, but we were getting closer! So, we packed the boys up in the strollers and went inside. I felt so bad that they had no clue what we were waiting for! So, at exactly 7pm, Graham's bedtime, he got his shot. Poor thing. Phew. Glad that is over, after our 45 minute drive home, he went happily to bed, and I am exhausted! I am not looking forward to the fact that he is supposed to get two of these! In thirty days we are supposed to get another one. Hopefully by then, the supply will be better, and we can get it at our own doctor. I'm off to bed, it's been a long night!

Playroom!
So with new baby coming soon, and my family room slowly being overtaken with toys, I decided we needed some sort of playroom. Especially since we have this loft area above our family room that is pretty much used for nothing. Now that Graham is a proficient user of stairs, I thought this winter was the perfect time to get it going. Not to mention it is attached to our bedroom, and I am hoping Graham will play as I lounge in bed and nurse the new baby! One can dream:) Anyway, I have been trying to figure out how to best use the space, with maximum fun. Pat went out of town this weekend for his own fun, so I took the opportunity to drill holes in the wall without judgement:) So, the awesome chalkboard you see is compliments of Papa (my Dad!). He worked his tail off for me this weekend to build the whole thing from scratch! We are so grateful for such a talented Papa! The board is made from a piece of drywall, we purchased magnetic paint and chalkboard paint and went to town. It still needs to dry a few more days before we should play, plenty of time for me to track down some dust free chalk! The shelves were my project, I spent the past week of naps and evening hours sanding, and painting. Now to fill the space with toys! Santa will be bringing a special big toy to go in the corner you can't see, yay!
